The book goes beyond the basics.2. Great mystery. It's an account of a few intensely lived years of a life, those between eight and sixteen, in 1970s South London, with the concerns that came with that age, time and place; sex, pop music and the Palace. This book was recommended and I found it very insightful and practical. It is an epic saga of a life lived in desperation; desperation probably caused by an awareness of his homosexuality and inability to deal with it in healthy ways. Thanks for taking in all the research and putting in one simple and short read!. The ideas are about meeting control and mastering the politics of looking good and taking charge. He has several 'applicants' but some doesn't like the tunnel, some can't see, some are to hyper and can't pay attention long enough to remember to look for their shadow. Levine's caricatures are some of the best done in the last 50 years. Damien was rich as Croesus which was a very hard character to relate to. It's an *editor's* job to make a final draft flow with cohesiveness, so I won't fault Keaton there. What I will say is she sometimes puts the capital M in TMI, and appears to be a walking, breathing contradiction in terms. This book was purchased as a Christmas gift for a person who grew up at Chippewa Lake Park; and it was very well recThis book offers a complete translation of the Digha Nikaya, the long discourses of the Buddha, one of the major collections of texts in the Pali Canon, the authorized scriptures of Theravada Buddhism. This collection--among the oldest records of the historical Buddha's original teachings, given in India two and a half thousand years ago--consists of thirty-four longer-length suttas, or discourses, distinguished as such from the middle-length and shorter suttas of the other collections. These suttas reveal the gentleness, compassion, power, and penetrating wisdom of the Buddha. Included are teachings on mindfulness (Mahasatipatthana Sutta); on morality, concentration, and wisdom (Subha Sutta); on dependent origination (Mahanidrana Sutta); on the roots and causes of wrong views (Brahmajala Sutta); and a long description of the Buddha's last days and passing away (Mahaparinibbana Sutta); along with a wealth of practical advice and insight for all thoFrom Library Journal This translation of the Digha Nikaya, a collection of 34 sutras and a companion volume to The Middle Length Discourses (below), deals with a variety of topics such as the rewards of monastic life, early Buddhist philosophy, and the duties of laypersons. .
