David Levine, born in 1926, is a life-long resident of Brooklyn, NY. Levine is perhaps the most influential caricaturists of the late twentieth century. For 45 years his work appeared in every issue of the New York Review of Books, and his drawings have been reproduced in Time, Newsweek, Esquire, Playboy, The New Yorker, New York Magazine, The Nation, and many other publications. His art is part of permanent collections at the Metropolitan Museum, NY, the Library of Congress, Washington D.C., the Cleveland Museum, the National Portrait Collection, England's National Portrait Gallery and the Pierpont Morgan Library, NY.
. He is internationally renowned for his incisive caricatures of world figures in literatureHis devastating wit and delicately cross hatched drawing have exposed the venality of the Nixon administration, the phoniness of the Reagan years, the duplicity of the Clinton era, and the evil of the Bush cabal. Bush; from the Great Emancipator to the Great Society, Levine has captured them all including present day candidates John McCain and Barack Obama.. That pen has proved to be mightier than the sword as Levine skewered, illuminated, satirized and condemned every president of the 20th century, as well as the most significant presidents from colonial times and the Civil War era. King sits in a jail arrested on Good Friday for standing up for his rights and the rights of others. I fell in love with Sinclair's character so much that I was able to dismiss some of the crude remarks. O'Reilly or the equally young, more photogenic, but annoyingly shrill Ann Coulter. The book is about their challenges and the challenges, rewards, and pain of those people devoting their lives to helping and loving them. The United States is the last major country still doing invasive research on chimps, so the book is also a call for passage of the Great Ape Protection Act which is slowly gaining sponsors in Congress. In the end, you'll be tired and not want to read anymore. In fact, it's so diverse it's not easy to pinpoint into one "style." A description of one print invariably will not fit the entire book. As a result, this really interfered with my enjoyment of Halo because that's basically what this story is about
